Friday Focus: Always be Available
All truly successful business owners, executives and leaders are always available. They prioritize their team, clients, customers and investors above themselves. Availability is not simply answering the phone, or responding to messages, although important; it truly is the ability to be present, actively listen and engage during conversation.
Engagement is key, either virtually through messaging, phone calls and emails or networking in person. Too often this is overlooked by new entrepreneurs and business owners or simply undervalued.
For a fact, who does value proper engagement are your customers, clients and potential investors. Expedient, concise, personalized replies to messages, or a handshake and acknowledgment during in-person conversation may seem simple to some, but is critically lacking in most interactions today. These things go a long way when attempting to stand out among your peers and competitors in the industry you are trying to grow your brand or business.
People want to be heard. In a world of countless distractions and stimulation receiving a prompt response, having someone actively engage in conversation or simply remembering a person’s name, opens the door for a connection to be built and a customer or potential career-changing partner established.
In the business world making connections is paramount. As the old adage says “your network is your net worth” for that to ring true, you must be able to truly communicate, understand and engage with yours. Therefore, availability of time, presence and mind are essential.
