Friday Focus: A Champion Mindset
What separates a winner is their ability to persevere through the constant ups and downs not just on the field but off of it. The best champions know they have it in them to win and be the best at what they do, however in order to get there they need to defeat their most formidable opponent…themselves.
Self-doubt, criticism and sabotage hold back the best, not only personal life but in business as well. The internal voices and fears as well as physical habits prove to be a detriment to many of the world’s top performers.
I believe we all struggle with it to some degree, and the reason it persists or is overlooked is that it is greatly unrealized or not addressed. We walk through life, interact in society, but are sometimes constantly fighting within ourselves. Some days we win and defeat the noises of negativity, the why we can’t do this or that, why it won’t work etc. while other days we succumb to the noise and lose focus. Lack of focus leads to distractions, distractions less time, less time less success.
The way around this is to not only try to think, but also act positively. Self talk is huge in this scenario, practice good self talk, when negativity creeps in instead or saying how it won’t work train your mind to say instead why it will be a success, how you can overcome obstacles in business and in life. The more those habits are practiced the mind will eventually become trained in finding solutions, overcoming obstacles and pushing forward.
Often times we are our own worst enemy, turn the table and transform our minds into our strongest ally, that’s the champion mindset that the ones we admire the most have mastered.
